According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were patrolling near the intersection of Andrew Springs Road and Garfield Street in Colp and noticed the man riding the bike in the roadway without required lighting at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19.

Deputies made a U-turn to investigate the man on the bike, who began to pedal faster and turned into an alley way between Johnson Street and Lincoln Street. Deputies initiated a traffic stop by activating their emergency lights. When this happened, the man fled through residential back yards in the 100 block of South Lincoln Street.

The suspect, known to deputies from prior law enforcement contact, was identified as Don E. “Punkin” Taylor. Taylor got off the bike at the front of his home and proceeded toward the front door while deputies pursued. Deputies ordered Taylor to stop and he failed to comply, continuing to flee. Taylor continued to refuse to yield and deputies saw him moving towards a make shift table on the front porch of his home.

Deputies drew a taser and pointed it at Taylor who continued to resist after additional warnings. The taser was deployed and Taylor was taken into custody without further incident. A subsequent investigation located 2.32 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Taylor was then cited for the mentioned offenses and taken to the Williamson County Jail.
