WOODLAWN (WMIX) – Woodlawn Grade School is mourning the loss of a student Wednesday from a sudden illness.

Out of respect for the child’s family, the student’s name is not being released. However, Superintendent Eric Helbig says the loss will undoubtedly raise many emotions for the entire district so extra outside counselors, along with social workers on staff, will be available for any student, staff member, or parent who may need assistance surrounding this loss.

Helbig states in an online post that this loss will affect everyone in the school family and in the Woodlawn Community. Students may have a difficult time dealing with the loss, and they encourage you to talk with your child.
