CARBONDALE – The 25th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. CommUNITY Celebration will take place Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Carbondale Civic Center.

You will be able to enjoy refreshments while gathering information from nearly 20 nonprofit resource tables. The program will begin at 2 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

The 25th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. CommUNITY Celebration theme is “It starts with me: CommUNITY.” The program will honor the life, teachings and words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth from throughout the Southern Illinois region will read experts from Dr. King. The Old School Gospel Jamboree Choir will also provide additional entertainment throughout the event. 

You will have the opportunity to provide offerings and donations to two local nonprofits while at the celebration. Those nonprofits include the Carbondale Warming Center and the Survivor Empowerment Center

This is a Southern Illinois celebration and residents throughout the region are encouraged to attend.
