BENTON – Vera Gay Hall, 89, of Benton, Illinois passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton, Illinois at 9:54 a.m.

Vera was born June 23, 1934, in Illinois to Isaac and Callie (Newberry) Drysdale. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in  Johnston City, Illinois. Vera loved her family and was an amazing seamstress. She was very active in local food banks and loved to go on car rides.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Carrie Billingsley; son William Cardin; grandson Tony Cardin; great grandson Zion Collins; parents and nine siblings.

Vera is survived by her daughters Tina (Lonnie) Melvin, Myra (Jimmy) Hosick, Sandra (Michael) Collins; son Robert Cardin; sisters Myrna Hamilton and Nita Wright; brother Marion Drysdale; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Johnston City, Illinois with Bishop Chris Behan officiating.

Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery in Logan Illinois. 

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. in the church prior to the service.

The Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
