BENTON – Mark Eugene McIntosh, age 64, of Benton, Illinois, passed away at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Franklin Hospital Emergency Room in Benton.

Mark was born on August 29, 1961, in Benton, Illinois, to George McIntosh and Marty (Smith) McChesney. He was later adopted by John and Thelma Richardson.

He worked as a machinist, rebuilding drill bits for the mining industry, and was last employed by RLC Bits in Benton. Mark enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time.

He is survived by three children: daughter, Tamara McIntosh of West City, Illinois; and sons, Wesley McIntosh and Daniel McIntosh, both of Benton, Illinois; three grandchildren: Hailey McIntosh, Haiden McIntosh, and Joey Nowak; four half-brothers: Dennis Richardson of Christopher, Illinois, Gary Richardson and wife Deronda of Benton, Illinois, Edward Richardson and wife Laura of Benton, Illinois, and Laren McIntosh of Alton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his biological parents, George McIntosh and Marty McChesney, his adoptive parents, John and Thelma Richardson, and a grandson, Connor McIntosh.

Cremation will be handled by Leffler Funeral Home in Benton, with no formal services planned.
