CAMBRIA – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and Cambria Police Department are investigating a battery involving a two-month-old child.
Sheriff’s investigators and Cambria officers located the child at a local hospital Friday night, where the infant was receiving medical treatment.
During the investigation, authorities recovered video evidence that showed the incident occurred early Friday morning and had not been immediately reported.
After reviewing the video evidence and conducting witness interviews, investigators identified the suspect as Dalton E. Ward. Ward was located in the 600 block of South Elm Street in Cambria and taken into custody without incident.
According to investigators, the video shows Ward repeatedly thrusting the child to the ground from an elevated position. The footage also shows Ward lying next to the child and restricting the child’s airway with his hand and/or arm.
Ward was cited for aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery and was lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
The case has been forwarded to the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office for further review, and additional charges are anticipated.
