NORRIS CITY – A woman was charged with Felony Aggravated Domestic Battery following an incident with her mother Sunday night in the 400 block of East Boyd Street in Norris City.
According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old Andrea L. Ray of Norris City pulled her mother’s hair, knocked her down on the floor and struck her face a few times. Ray’s mother said her daughter woke up with a bruise on her breast and began blaming her mom for it. Ray’s mother said she didn’t touch her daughter adding that Andrea had become more and more irritable over the last few days. Officers had been to the home too several times due to Andrea’s behavior.
A deputy asked Ray how she got the bruise. Ray responded saying she was putting the dog in the kennel and then asked for a tissue. Ray then told the officer she had nothing else to say and that she fell on her left side in the hallway. She said her mother did not cause the bruises.
A mental evaluation was ordered for Ray. An Emergency Order of Protection was also requested by her mother against Ray.
Ray is lodged in the White County Jail.
According to online court records, Ray made her first appearance by video in White County Court Monday. She is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing and a status hearing Monday in White County Court.
