CARBONDALE – One person is charged with First-degree Murder following a reported stabbing that claimed a Carbondale man’s life late Tuesday night in the 500 block of East Birch Street in Carbondale.

Carbondale Police say the suspect, 60-year-old Yoshiko L. Bradsfield, was lodged in the Jackson County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Police say they found the victim, 63-year-old Gary L. Starks, in the roadway with several puncture wounds in his chest and began life-saving measures. Police also saw Bradsfield running from the scene and was caught.

An ambulance took Starks to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment and later died. Police say Starks and Bradsfield were engaged in a domestic dispute that resulted in a physical altercation. Anyone with information should call Carbondale Police at 618-549-2121.
