SPRINGFIELD – Legislation was approved in the Illinois House Monday that will let West Frankfort acquire the West Frankfort Army National Guard Armory when it is vacated and moves to Marion.

Under House Bill 1672, sponsored by Republican State Representative Patrick Windhorst of Metropolis, the Adjutant General, on behalf of the State and the Department of Military Affairs, is authorized to convey by Quitclaim Deed all right, title, and interest of the State and Department of Military Affairs in and to the real estate described to the City of West Frankfort, subject to the conditions and restriction described.

The measure now moves to the Senate for their consideration.
