MURPHYSBORO – A Carbondale man has been found guilty on gun-related charges in connection with an incident at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in July 2022.

Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph Cervantez announced Friday that 27-year-old Deangelo M. Gray of Carbondale was found guilty of one count Armed Habitual Criminal, one count Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and one count Felon in Possession of Firearm Ammunition.

Cervantez says in a three-day trial, the State’s Attorney’s office presented evidence that on Saturday, July 16, 2022, the Carbondale Police Department detained Gray, an individual previously convicted of multiple felonies, for possessing a pistol in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

The investigation was led by the Carbondale Police Department and the prosecution was led by Jackson County Assistant State’s Attorney Sophia M. Allen.
