MT. VERNON (WMIX) – A 43-year-old Bonnie woman pleaded guilty Thursday in Jefferson County Court to reckless discharge of a firearm in exchange for a greater charge of aggravated battery of a police officer being dismissed.

Jennifer Larson was arrested in October after Mt. Vernon Police responded to a home in the 1600 block of South 13th on a report of a disturbance involving a woman who had fired a weapon.

Police report Larson pulled up outside the South 13th home and began honking her horn.

A man inside the home went outside where Larson reportedly began asking him for help and gave the man the key to her vehicle.

The man went back inside, but when he again went outside, Larson allegedly fired a gun into the air.

The man was able to disarm and subdue her before officers arrived.

Larson was sentenced Thursday to 24 months probation, 30 hours public service and was ordered to complete any ordered medical and/or mental treatment, drug treatment and alcohol treatment, as well as pay any owed fines and fees.
