MARION – A man was recently arrested and cited for Aggravated Assault and Obstructing Identification after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Binkley Road near Whiteash to a report of a man threatening another with a knife.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says Joshua S. Colburn was taken to the Williamson County Jail Saturday.

The sheriff’s office says when deputies arrived around 7:15 p.m., they found Colburn walking south on Binkley Road with a knife in a sheath located on his hip. He refused to identify himself on contact and remained uncooperative. The knife was removed and Colburn was searched for any additional weapons. A small black cylinder item was located in his back right pocket. Colburn stated it was pepper spray for his protection.

During the search of Colburn, he refused to provide his name or date of birth. Colburn did not have any form of identification on him or in his wallet at the time of the incident. He was extremely aggressive and rude during the interaction. After the third attempt to identify Colburn, he was placed his under arrest for Obstructing Identification.

Deputies made contact with the victim at his home who stated that Colburn, who was seen by deputies walking on Binkley Road, had pulled a knife and made threats towards him.

Colburn was taken to the Williamson County Jail. During transport Colburn continued to be verbally aggressive and referred to deputies in random expletives which were captured on the patrol vehicles in-car video and audio recording system.

During processing at the jail, Colburn refused to comply with directions during booking and was placed in a restraint chair. Jail staff was able to identify the suspect as Colburn around 10:30 p.m.
