MCLEANSBORO – The McLeansboro City Council Tuesday night passed an ordinance modifying the City’s limited parking zones at Tuesday night’s meeting.
According to the ordinance, it will be unlawful to park any vehicle for a longer period of time than two hours between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. weekdays and between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, on any street, alley or public way upon the following described boundaries – Market Street (North side only) between Jackson and Washington streets, Washington Street (West side only) between Market and Main streets, Main Street (South side only) between Jackson and Washington streets and Jackson Street (East side only) between Main and Market streets.
No vehicle of any kind will be allowed to park on Jerry Sloan Avenue, from Cherry to Market Streets, except passenger vehicles will be able to park on the west side of Pearl Street, between the points specified in the ordinance, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Parking on both sides of that portion of Pearl Street, from Market Street north one-half block to an alley, will be prohibited from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.
The ordinance also says it shall be unlawful at any time for any truck larger or heavier than a three-quarter ton pickup truck, except vehicles loading or unloading, to be parked or left standing on the Square. Trucks shall be permitted to double park on the streets bounding the Square for the purpose of loading or unloading merchandise and when it is impossible to load or unload at the rear of the premises receiving or shipping the merchandise.
Enforcement will begin as soon as the City get the signs installed.
