MT. VERNON – Mt. Vernon Police arrested a 42-year-old Mt. Vernon woman Sunday on an outstanding $100,000 Jefferson County warrant charging her with Class X felony possession with the intent to deliver between 15 and 100 grams of methamphetamine.

According to Police Chief Trent Page, the patrol officer noticed Megan Welch driving in town and knew she had a warrant for her arrest. After confirming the warrant was still outstanding, the officer stopped Welch and took her into custody.

Page says a search of Welch revealed she was in possession of a small amount of meth, a controlled substance, and a hypodermic syringe. She was transported to the Jefferson County Jail on the warrant and on the additional charges.
