CARBONDALE – A Missouri man was recently arrested by Carbondale Police on gun charges.

According to Carbondale Police, officers went to a home in the 700 block of South Lewis Lane at 7:30 Thursday night where they found 31-year-old Preston I. Walden of Columbia, MO. Walden was known to have a valid warrant for firearms violations out of Cape Girardeau.

When officers arrived, Walden attempted to flee from the home but was immediately apprehended without further incident. Officers were subsequently granted a search warrant for the home with assistance from the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office.

During the service of the search warrant, firearms and ammunition were recovered inside the home.

Walden was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Resisting a Peace Officer, and the original warrant out of Cape Girardeau County, MO. Walden was lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
