MARION – Marion Police say multiple firearms and narcotics were seized after an officer noticed a person driving erratically and conducted a traffic stop Monday.

According to a post on the Marion Police Department’s Facebook page, the driver began to flee before the officer even initiated contact, However, law enforcement prevailed.

Police say inspection of these firearms revealed one of them to be capable of fully automatic gunfire. Police are glad these weapons were secured before they could be used to harm others.

Charges are pending against the driver, whose name was not released. The charges include Driving While License Suspended, Aggravated Fleeing, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resist/Obstruct a Peace Officer and Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Machine Gun Conversion Device.
