CARBONDALE – Some railroad crossing work will force road closures in Carbondale in the coming days.

According to IDOT, Illinois 13/East Walnut Street at the Canadian National/Illinois Central railroad crossing just east of the intersection of eastbound Illinois 13/Walnut Street and U.S. 51/South Illinois Avenue will be closed starting Monday, June 5 at 8 a.m. until Friday, June 9 at 6 p.m. so crews can perform repairs on the railroad crossing on Illinois 13/East Walnut Street.

No traffic will be allowed through the crossing during repairs. You should use the marked detour to avoid the area.

Then starting Monday, June 12 at 8 a.m., Illinois 13/East Main Street at the Canadian National/Illinois Central railroad crossing just east of westbound Illinois 13/Main Street and U.S. 51/North Illinois Avenue will be closed until Friday, June 16 at 6 p.m. so crews can perform repairs on the railroad crossing on Illinois 13/East Main Street.

No traffic will be allowed through the crossing during repairs. You should use the marked detour to avoid the area.
