MARION – We now know what’s going to happen to the current Marion City Hall after it moves this summer to its new location across the way into the former First Southern Bank building on Tower Square.
At Monday night’s Marion City Council meeting, the Council awarded a bid from Chris Harris, owner of Route 51 Brewery in Elkville, and singer/songwriter Dave Fenley. Harris and Fenley are going in together to redevelop the current City Hall into a microbrewery and event space.
There were three bids for the current City Hall building. Harris and Fenley offered to buy the building for $200,000 which was the highest offer.
As for the new Marion City Hall, work continues and the City hopes to move into the new facility in late June or early July.
