SPRINGFIELD – The field of contenders for this year’s title of The Coolest Thing Made in Illinois has been narrowed further, with voters choosing the final four products to move ahead in the fourth annual “Makers Madness” contest hosted by the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association and presented by Comcast Business.

Two of the four contenders are here in our area.

The Drug Terminator by Elastec in Carmi and 17th Street Barbecue Sauces made by 17th Street Barbecue in Murphysboro are among the four left in the competition. The other two are the 77GHz Radar for Driver’s Assistance and Automated Driving made by Hella Electronics Corp. in Flora and the Rosenberg Moon Habitat manufactured by Ingersoll Machine Tools, Inc. in Rockford.

Voting for this round is now open and will take place at makersmadnessil.com through 11:59 p.m. on March 26.

Voters may cast one vote per day for any of the four finalist. The contest will culminate with an awards ceremony at the Governor’s Manager on March 29 when The Coolest Thing Made in Illinois will be named.
