MARION – Marion Police say suspects are in custody following an incident at Marion Junior High School Wednesday morning.

The Marion Unit 2 school district says 31 students were struck by what they believed to be airsoft pellets from a passing vehicle on Cherry Street during their PE class at 10:45 a.m.

No major injuries occurred. All students involved were seen by the school nurse and parents were contacted. Local law enforcement was notified immediately and a suspected vehicle was identified. Suspects were taken into custody following the incident.

As a precautionary measure, all Marion Unit 2 students remained inside their buildings until law enforcement issued an all clear communication to all of the schools.

An all clear was given by the school district just after 1 Wednesday afternoon.
