MARION – Conservative leader and business owner Joe DeBose has officially announced his candidacy for State Representative in Illinois’ 118th District. With the seat now open, DeBose is stepping forward to ensure Southern Illinois has a strong, experienced, and unapologetic voice in Springfield focused on results.

“I’ve had enough of the budgets in Springfield growing larger and larger while the family budgets in Southern Illinois grow smaller by the day. My commitment is simple: to stand firm, speak the truth, and work hard every day to protect our freedoms, lower taxes, and deliver results for Southern Illinois,” said DeBose. “I’ve helped conservatives win tough fights and pass common-sense policies across the country. I know how to work with others to deliver results, but let me be clear: I will never back down when it comes to fighting for you, the families, taxpayers, jobs, local businesses, and communities of Southern Illinois.”

DeBose believes Southern Illinois needs an experienced and proven conservative fighter to fill the vacancy left by Dr. Paul Jacobs who is now running for State Senate. His campaign priorities include:

  • Blocking tax hikes, fighting to eliminate wasteful spending, and lowering taxes to make life more affordable for regular people

  • Making Illinois more business friendly and sparking job growth in Southern Illinois

  • Lowering utility bills by repealing extreme energy mandates, unleashing energy production, and making energy more affordable

  • Honoring promises to our veterans and standing with law enforcement to keep our communities safe

  • Pushing back against the nonsense in Springfield and defending our freedoms, values, and communities

  • Putting students first, empowering parents, and keeping politics out of the classroom

“The people of Southern Illinois deserve a representative willing to work hard every single day to take the fight to Springfield,” DeBose said. “I am running to provide relief for our families while making sure our communities are defended, our freedoms are protected, jobs and opportunities are restored, and Southern Illinois has a stronger future.”

Joe is pro-life, a proud supporter of the Second Amendment, and supports parental rights.

“Chicago politicians are working overtime to make Illinois one of the most far-left states in the country,” DeBose said. “We must not allow them to be successful in their harmful agenda. We must defend the unborn, our Constitutional right to bear arms, and the rights of parents to instill their values – not Chicago values – in their children. I will not back down in defending Southern Illinois families.”

Joe was born and raised in Southern Illinois, served six years in the Army National Guard, and lives in Marion. He is a Christian, family man, small business owner, and an experienced policy advisor, with nearly a decade of experience building and running a successful business. Joe understands how to create jobs, meet payroll, and overcome obstacles without excuses because he’s done it. He is the proven conservative leader Southern Illinois needs. The 118th District includes Alexander, Pulaski, Union, and parts of Williamson and Jackson Counties. The Primary Election is March 17th.
