CARBONDALE – The Illinois Department of Transportation is holding an open house public informational meeting for people to learn more and comment about the proposed road improvements on Illinois 14 from Interstate 57 to Illinois 37 at the Benton Square in Franklin County. The meeting will be held Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Benton High School located on East Main Street.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the project’s proposed improvements, obtain public input and answer questions. The project consists of pavement replacement and resurfacing, pavement widening for on-street bicycle accommodations, new curb and gutter, inlets, and sidewalk.

The public can view exhibits and maps, leave comments and ask questions. Comments received by mail and postmarked before April 18 will become part of the official public meeting record. Written comments should be sent to:
