MARION – A 24-year-old student at John A. Logan College in Carbondale has been charged after the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Sunday received a number of complaints regarding a student making threats to harm other students by means of physical violence at the college.
According to the sheriff’s office, the student, whose name was not released, was taken into custody by the Carbondale Police Department on a similar but unrelated charge.
The sheriff’s office in coordination with the Williamson County State’s Attorney has taken steps to charge this individual with Disorderly Conduct, a class 4 felony.
Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich says the steps taken Sunday evening represent a coordinated effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of our schools. The sheriff reminds the public that this individual is in custody and no further danger to public safety exists.
